Summer at Robin Hood - and maybe more - for Vulcan bomber
30.03.11
The last flying Vulcan bomber has returned to its former Cold War base for the summer months. The iconic aircraft will spend the summer based at Robin Hood Airport, the former RAF Finningley, which was the home of the Vulcan in the 1960s.
The move could be the first stage in the development of a visitor centre that could eventually be linked to an educational facility to inspire the next generation of engineers and technicians. Vulcan to the Sky Trust CEO, Dr Robert Pleming, said: ‘We are thrilled that the last flying Vulcan has come home. Something very special could be created here, but these are early days in the discussions.’
