Local firms sign pledge to back airport
29.04.10
Local business leaders have signed a pledge to support Robin Hood Airport. A number of businesses that have staff who travel frequently as part of their everyday operations have agreed to look at their current requirements to see if there are opportunities for them to fly from their local airport.
The airport recently saw the launch of a number of new city routes, with easyJet starting flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Prague the last week and Aer Lingus offering flights to Dublin, with onward connections to New York and Boston. These are in addition to existing city services from Flybe to Belfast and Wizz to Poland.
Nick Smillie, aviation director, said: ‘Support from our local business community is essential to ensure these new services are successful. And successful routes enable us to make the case for additional business-friendly services from airlines.’
