Airport goes in search of new routes
11.09.10
Representatives from Robin Hood Airport travelled across the Atlantic this month in a bid to gain new routes. A delegation from the airport went to talk to airlines from across the world at the 16th Annual World Route Development Forum in Vancouver, Canada.
The event brings together representatives from hundreds of airports and airlines from across the world and is the meeting place for the world's route development industry. It gave the representatives the chance to make contact with airlines and explore what route opportunities might be available.
Airport spokesman Robin Tudor said: ‘The event can best be described as 'speed dating' for airports and airlines. If the airlines like what we have to say in a brief sales pitch, a relationship can be established that can lead to more business in the future.'
‘It is a great way to speak face to face with airlines from all over the world in an extremely cost effective way and get the message across to them about all the great things happening in the Sheffield city region.’
