Airport firemen plan charity run - in full kit
26.04.08
Three energetic firemen from Robin Hood Airport are set to run a half-marathon in full fire-fighting uniform tomorrow. The team of three firefighters will take part in the Sheffield half marathon to raise money for the Bassetlaw Hospital Children's Ward.
Dan Bryan, 31, crew commander at the station, said: ‘Although we have run for a few charities, this is quite a local one that we really wanted to do something for. It will definitely be a challenge. The kit is going to be heavy and, depending on the weather, probably quite hot.’
The other runners are 28-year-old Steve Harding and 23-year-old Billy McDowell. If you would like to sponsor the runners, you can send a cheque made payable to Robin Hood Airport Fire Social Fund and address to Robin Hood Fire and Rescue Service, Old Bawtry Road, Finningley, Doncaster.
