Passengers down by almost a third
19.02.10
Passengers numbers at Robin Hood Airport last month dropped to the lowest level since it opened in 2005. Just 36,772 passengers passed though the airport in January, 1000 fewer than in December and 15,000 - or around 29% - fewer than the same month in 2009.
It is the third month running that passengers have dropped below 40,000 and reflects the current aviation slump. However, airport bosses are said to be relaxed about the passenger slump and confident figures will increase by 40 percent over the next year after easyJet announced it would launch flights five European destinations and Aer Lingus' decision to offer flights to Dublin - with onward connections to New York and Boston - from Robin Hood.
