Big jump in passenger and freight numbers

Robin Hood Airport enjoyed a 50% jump in passenger numbers last year, figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority reveal. The airport saw 900,067 passengers pass through its terminal in 2006, compared to 600,907 in 2005.
Robin Hood Airport also enjoyed a big rise in freight figures last year, with 161 tonnes flying through the airport in 2006 compared to just 31 tonnes in 2005, a rise of 419%. This included the first Boeing 747 jumbo jet flying into the airport, on Beaujolais Nouveau day.
