A man who posted an 'airport bomb threat' on twitter has been charged with sending a menacing message and will appear in court today. Paul Chambers, 26, of Byram Court in Balby, Doncaster, was due to fly from Robin Hood Airport in January. He was arrested on suspicion of communicating a bomb hoax after a post on the website about blowing up the airport was reported to police, and has been banned from the airport for life.
Mr Chambers made the twitter comment on January 6 after snowfall threatened to delay his plans to travel to Ireland on January 15. He wrote: ‘Robin Hood Airport is closed. You've got a week and a bit to get your shit together, otherwise I'm blowing the airport sky high!!’
He is due before Doncaster Magistrates' Court today. A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: ‘A 26-year-old Doncaster man has been charged with sending by public communications network a message that was grossly offensive, or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character contrary to section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.’
