Airport 'not worried' by Ryanair Leeds Bradford expansion

Robin Hood Airport say business will not be affected after budget airline Ryanair, which axed services from the airport this year, announced an £84m expansion at rival Leeds Bradford. Management at the airport predicted Ryanair's announcement would not hit passengers numbers, the Doncaster Free Press reports.
Ryanair axed its service from Robin Hood Airport to Dublin earlier this year, blaming increases in air traffic costs imposed by the Irish Government. But last week it announced it would launch 14 new routes, increasing its traffic at the Leeds Bradford to 1 million passengers a year.
Nick Smillie, sales director for Robin Hood Airport, said CAA figures suggest that only 4 percent of people from the Sheffield City Region - which includes South Yorkshire and parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire - would fly from Leeds. He said: 'We do not expect this announcement to have any negative impact on our business at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.'
