Rap for council over airport noise figures
11.12.06
Doncaster Council has been reported to a government watchdog for refusing to release details of noise at Robin Hood Airport. The authority had originally turned down requests by a group using powers under the Freedom of Information Act for information on aircraft movements last November, stating that they did not hold the relevant information.
But the Information Commissioner has now ruled that the council does indeed hold the information asked for and that it should have made it available within 20 working days as outlined in the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. The Information Commissioner has issued a decision notice which requires Doncaster Council to comply with the original request. The authority now has a month to decide whether to appeal.
