11.09.08
Robin Hood Airport is expected to reveal its blueprint for the future to councillors today, the Doncaster Free Press reports. Owners Peel Holdings are to present an update on their draft masterplan to the councils economy and enterprise panel.
The masterplan, drawn up in line with Government guidelines, will set out plans in detail for the period to 2016 and in less detail for up to 2030. It will include levels of passengers, investment and employment opportunities.
A report prepared in advance of today's meeting suggests that the airport could see between 4.4 and 6.5 million passengers a year by 2016, while more than 7000 jobs could be created over the next 7 years.
The masterplan is also to be accompanied by a formal application to operate night time freight flights. This is likely to be met with fierce opposition from local residents.
