So many Polish passengers are passing through Robin Hood Airport that Doncaster College is launching a Polish language course for airport staff. The course - called Polish for the airport environment - is backed by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and the Regional Languages Network Yorkshire and the Humber.
Phrases airport workers taking the course will learn range from the basic courtesies to more complex sentences. These include, by special request from South Yorkshire Police, officers taking the course will be taught to say: ‘I am a police officer. You are under arrest for an offence and will be taken to a police station’!
