Airport celebrates Yorkshire day
05.08.08
Robin Hood Airport helped to celebrate Yorkshire Day, with arriving passengers offered complimentary Yorkshire pudding, the Star reports. Staff wore white roses and flew the Yorkshire flag as they greeted passengers either visiting or returning home.
Jodi Stow, the airport's marketing manager, told the newspaper: ‘This is an important day for Yorkshire people and one that the airport wanted to share with our passengers. We felt there could be no better example of a true Yorkshire, world renowned, culinary delight than Yorkshire pudding and would like to thank The Real Yorkshire Pudding Company, who are based near Doncaster, for helping us share their puddings with our passengers.'
‘I suspect it was quite a surprise to be greeted with Yorkshire puddings, but it certainly made many passengers feel at home the moment they set foot back on Yorkshire soil.’
