Airport jobs under threat
03.11.08
Robin Hood Airport are looking at making job cuts.Nine posts are under threat following a review of the operation. The jobs at risk are mainly airfield operational roles.
The airport say the proposals will result in a number of operational efficiencies, enhancing safety, security and compliance in line with regulatory guidance, as well as improving training and staff development across operational departments. They will also leave the airport better prepared to face the challenges of the current economic crisis.
Airport director Mike Morton said that the proposals will also leave the hub better placed to maintain and grow its business. He said: ‘These are currently some of the most difficult trading conditions the aviation industry has experienced.'
‘We have endeavoured to avoid redundancies, however it will unfortunately be necessary to place a small number of staff at risk of redundancy in order to ensure that each airport is best placed moving forward.’
The airport will now enter into a period of consultation with employees and union leaders aimed at minimising the job losses.
