Luggage warning

Robin Hood Airport has warned passengers to stick to luggage limits as they enter the busiest holiday period of the year. The airport is particularly keen to ensure passengers follow restrictions regarding liquids placed in hand luggage, brought in after terror scares two years ago.
Robin Hood Airport director Mike Morton said: ‘The summer holidays are an extremely busy time. To avoid costly mistakes, and to keep queuing times to a minimum, we are asking passengers to be prepared and to think about what they are carrying in their hand luggage.’
‘When items are discovered in hand luggage that exceed the volumes allowed, or do not comply with the restrictions, we have no alternative but to confiscate them. This slows down the security process for other passengers and causes disappointment and often financial loss for the individual.’
Current limits mean liquids, gels and aerosols can be carried in individual 100ml containers that fit comfortably in a re-sealable clear bag no larger than 20cm by 20cm. However, passengers are advised to put liquids within their hold luggage at check-in if they can.
Passengers are also limited to one item of hand luggage through the security screening point when travelling from Robin Hood Airport, with a maximum size of 56cm by 45cm by 25cm.
